Cebu Rural Christian Mission Ministry

This mission project started in 2002 in the interior part of Cebu, Philippines. Initial project area includes the towns of Sac-on, Basak, Lupa, Mulao, Paril, and Tag-angilan1.

These towns are within the mountainous regions of the Cebu City and the municipalities of Liloan and Compostela, in the Visayan Region of the Philippines.

Overall Objective:
To provide spiritual revival and help uplift socioeconomic conditions to the residents within the project area.

Methods:
  • Provide financial support to local area pastors and church workers. Residents in the project area are, in general, economically poor. As a result, members of local churches are unable to hire full time pastors and church workers. This project provides financial support to supplement the salaries of local pastors and church workers in the area.
  • Support pre-school/kindergarten education to the project area.
The foundation provides financial and material support to a volunteer-run pre-school/kindergarten program in Sac-on, Cebu. Although Philippines has free public education, but because of the project area's remoteness, public pre-school education is not available. The parents are unable to provide preparatory education to their children because all available family members work in their farms through out the day, and that several adults are illiterate themselves. Thus, several children are not adequately prepared to enter elementary schools causing learning difficulties and some to drop out. To fill-in the need, a retired ordained minister in Sac-on, Cebu developed and ran a pre-school program.
  • Coordinate medical and dental outreach services.
There are no medical facilities within the project area. Several residents haven't seen a doctor or dentist for years. One of the goals of this mission is to coordinate free medical and dental outreach through volunteer medical practitioners and donated medicines.
  • Provide humanitarian and poverty relief by sending goods (-used clothing, books, toys, tools, food items, etc.) through the foundation's Balikbayan Box Ministry.
  • Provide scholarships to deserving students who otherwise are unable to attend school due to their economic situations.

In previous trustees visit,
the jeepney hired got overheated
due to rough and mountainous terrain.
We end up pushing this jeepney over the hill to get to Sac-on.
