Balikbayan Box Ministry
This ministry initially started as part of the Cebu Rural Christian Ministry in which ministry partners and supporters here in the USA send used clothes, school supplies, non-perishable food items, books and other miscellaneous household items to the our mission project areas in the Philippines using "Balikbayan Boxes". The items are then distributed by our mission partners and volunteers to those in need.
Now, our Balikbayan Box Ministry has spread to various places in the Philippines --- from Luzon to Mindanao. The concept is simple --- our supporters and ministry partners here in the US, instead of throwing away used items they no longer need, but are still functional and identified as items needed in our mission areas, dropped them at designated areas. The foundation then ships these items in Balikbayan Boxes to various mission areas in the Philippines.
- Children clothing
- Shoes
- School supplies (-yes, even used notebooks, pen, pencils, crayons, books, etc.)
- School backpacks
- Non-perishable food items (ex. canned goods, candies left over from the holidays)
- Disposable utensils -- plastic or paper plates, plastic spoons/forks/knives/cups.
- Vitamins and OTC medicines
